During these unprecedented times, the leg spinner has not failed to entertain his fans and his teammates. Through his Instagram and TikTok (earlier) he is often seen sharing funny videos and posts. Referred to as ‘Tilli’ by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Chahal and Dhoni shares a brotherly bond. MS Dhoni has been a guiding light during the initial years of the leg spinner. MS Dhoni’s experience and Yuzvendra Chahal skills lead team India to many wins. Yuzvendra Chahal during an interview said, “Mahi bhai is one the best and greatest players India has produced. He has helped me and Kuldeep during matches. Some times, a batsman hits me for boundaries and then he comes, puts his hands around my shoulder and says ‘isko googly daal, ye nahi khel payega’ (Bowl him a googly, he will not be able to play). Tips from him really works well in the team’s favour,”
Yuzvendra Chahal in many instances has said that he owes his success to the former Indian Captain. During his show ‘Chahal TV’, Yuzvendra Chahal disclosed how MS Dhoni’s seat in Team Bus is still vacant in order to pay respect to the wicket keeper batsman. The lovers of PUBG, Chahal and Dhoni share their room during tours to play the game and free up their mind from all the pressure.
The duo was often seen spending time with each other. During Dhoni’s presence in the team, Chahal emerged to be sheer match winner India. Yuzi Chahal is the first Indian bowler to take a 5 wicket haul in T20. Averaging 25.8 in ODI’s and 24.3 in T20’s the Indian leg spinner along with Chinaman Kuldeep Yadav can trick any batsman around the world.
But there’s a void within Kuldeep. The leg spinner has often admitted that the team wanted to win the ICC World Cup 2019 for Mahi Bhai, but all the dream was shattered when New Zealand defeated India in the semis. This was the last time MS Dhoni was seen on the cricket field. Reacting to this Yuzvendra Chahal said, “It was my first World Cup and when Mahi Bhai (MS Dhoni) got out and I was going in (to bat), I was trying to hold back my tears. It was so depressing”.
