One of India’s Greatest white ball player Yuvraj Singh is trying to make a comeback into the Punjab domestic team.
Yuvraj, retired from all forms of cricket on 10th June 2019, however was seen playing Global T20 and Abu Dhabi League. In a recent interview with Cricbuzz, the Indian all rounder revealed his plans of making a comeback into the Punjab domestic team, if BCCI (Board Of Control For Cricket In India) gives him the permission.
Yuvraj Singh said, “I enjoyed spending time with these youngsters, and talking to them about various aspects of the game, I realised that they were able to pick up various things that I was telling them. I had to get into the nets to show them a few other elements, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well I was hitting the ball even though I hadn’t held a bat for a really long time,”
He further added, “I also trained for those two months, and then I started to bat in the off-season camp. I made runs in some of the practice matches. Mr Puneet Bali, the secretary of the Punjab Cricket Association, approached me after one of the sessions and asked me if I would reconsider coming out of retirement.”
The Man of the Tournament of 2011 World Cup, revealed that the motivation is to make Punjab the champion again. In last few months, the 38 year old spend a lot of his time with youngsters like Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, Prabhsimran Singh, Anmolpreet Singh at the PCA Stadium. It is when, the cricketer found his old love.
Seeing Yuvraj’s majical touch with the bat, his guidance and most importantly how the young guns were responding to his suggestions, the Indian all rounder thought of making a comeback.
“As things stand now, I will be playing only T20s if I get the nod,” Yuvraj observes. “But who knows, let’s see.” Yuvraj said.
Yuvraj Singh has sent a letter seeking permission from BCCI Vice President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah. This is a day of celebration and rejoice for all the Singh’s fans. Seeing Yuvraj hitting those maximum such effortlessly is a matter of delight for every cricket fan.
