YouTube deletes 2,500 China linked channels for spreading disinformation

Most liked Indian songs on YouTubeGoogle has deleted more than 2,500 YouTube channel having ties with People’s Republic of China engaged in spreading disinformation on the platform, as reported by Reuters.

Google said that the channels were removed between April and June “as part of our ongoing investigation into coordinated influence operations linked to China.”

The channels generally posted “spammy, non-political content,” but a small subset touched on politics, the company said in a quarterly bulletin on disinformation operations.

Last month Twitter also took the similar action and suspended more than 23,000 thousands Chinese backed accounts for spreading misinformation on Hong Kong protest, Covid-19 etc.

It was very hypocritical that China banned almost all western social media apps in the country, but on the other hand they shamelessly used these social media apps to spread their political propaganda’s.
