Tomorrow India will face Australia at the SCG (Sydney Cricket Ground). While Australia will be coming out with full force with the motive to crush India, Virat Kohli’s men need to rise up and play good cricket if they want to stay alive in the series. But seeing the current situation can India bounce back ?
The previous game was a total nightmare for Indian team, nothing seemed going right. Dropping catches, poor fielding, lack of attitude and temperament and Australia capitalized it pretty well. Hardik Pandya’s injury is a big concern for the management as he plays an important role in attaining the balance of the team. Team India failed in all the 3 departments, specially the bowling and the batting.
What went wrong for India ?
Before the beginning of the tournament there were lot of speculation and controversy around Rohit Sharma. People assumed that the management and selectors are not fair with the superstar batsman. However the question is not whether it was fair on Rohit Sharma or not, the question is the current Indian opener has been assigned the job and he needs to deliver the way Rohit does.
There is no doubt that Rohit Sharma was missed in the previous game. The brutal bouncers send many Indian batsmen back to the pavilion. Moreover the trio of Rohit, Shikhar and Virat has delivered time and again. If the three play together more often than not, they take the team across the finishing line.
Mayank Aggarwal had an exceptional IPL. He scored 424 runs in 11 matches at a strike rate 156.45. Mayank got a good start in the previous game, but failed to convert those runs into match winning knocks. People have high expectations from Mayank as he has replaced Rohit Sharma and if he plays according to the situation, the guy can turn the fortune for India seeing the talent he has.
Team India were really bad at the field. There’s a saying, ‘a good knock helps you reach a good total, a wicket helps you stay in the game, but to win matches you need to take catches’. Team India looked a bit agile on the field and at the big level one can’t imagine those misjudgment.
The team needs to forget the past and come back strong. India has been one of the best fielding sides and it takes time to get accustomed to the changing conditions, so fans are expecting they will see 200% in tomorrow’s game from their favourite players.
The bowlers had a bad day in previous game,. Except Mohammad Shami all the bowlers conceded runs. Shami picked 3 wickets, while it was a rare sight to see Bumrah going for these many runs. In his 10 over Jasprit conceded 73 runs and picked 1 wicket.
Chahal was look good during the initial overs but as soon as the batsmen started hitting the bowl, Yuzi completely lost his line and length. Young gun, Navdeep Saini was nowhere in the game but seeing his calibre and the way he played IPL, there is no doubt he will perform.
What the team needs to do ?
The team management and the captain at first needs to play the proper playing XI. The lack of sixth bowler was one of the reason of the defeat. Hardik Pandya has been performing with the bat keeping him outside playing XI would be not fair, but to bring one more bowler the captain either needs to drop a batsman or Hardik Pandya.
Dropping a batsman would mean that their will be only 4 proper batsmen. This is a trickier situation for the captain and the management and the solution needs to be found as soon as possible.
Virat Kohli’s form has also come into critics radar but he is just one match away to again regain his lost form. One good innings and the King Kohli will be again back. The prayers have started across India. Fans are hoping that they will witness something great tomorrow by Indian players.
