Today the world will witness the final of the most celebrated Cricket tournament in the world, IPL 2020. When everything was going against, IPL came as a saviour for people across the globe. At once it seemed impossible, but again all the credit goes to BCCI, IPL Governing Council, Broadcaster, franchises, players and every single person involved with this tournament for making it happen.
Life is just like a sport, few bad days doesn’t make a failure. Organising IPL during this pandemic was a tough task, but it was worth. It was statement to the whole world that no matter what, we stand in solidarity and Indians are ready to fight any situations.
The last and the final game of IPL 2020 will be played today in Dubai International Stadium where Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians are set to face Shreyas Iyer’s Delhi Capitals, but who is more likely to lift this year’s IPL trophy ?
Delhi Capitals have faced 3 times the mighty MI in this season and the all the three times it was a clinical win for Rohit Sharma and his boys. But this is a new day, Delhi Capitals have the team that can help to change the record. Before the start of the tournament Delhi was considered one of the favourites and now they are just a match away for their first IPL trophy.
But on the other side the mighty force Mumbai Indians will go all out to win the title for the 5th time. On big occasions, Mumbai Indians becomes a dangerous side. The team has done it in past and has full capabilities to repeat it again. Let’s count some positives and negatives of both the side.
Delhi Capitals biggest positive is their win against SRH. In the previous game the team played as a whole unit, specially the return of Shikhar Dhawan and Marcus Stoinis will increase the hopes and chances of Delhi Capitals. It’s just a matter of one game, if Shikhar Dhawan fires again no one can stop Delhi from lifting this year’s IPL trophy.
The Go To Man Kagiso Rabada and Nortje are again back. If Delhi Capitals puts big runs in today’s match, Delhi bowlers have ability and the temperament to defend the total no matter who is the opponent. Axar Patel’s support has been just phenomenal for the team. The Indian all rounder has done some magic with the bat as well as bowl an has to contributed to the team in every way possible.
While on Mumbai Indians part, there is only positives. It seems Mumbai Indians have cracked the trick needed to lift IPL trophy every season. The team is a destructive force who on their bad day, can also outclass the opponent. The team’s consistent performance, showing trust and believe in young players have helped them attain so many titles.
Mumbai Indians consists of only match winners. One can’t write off MI at any point of time. In bowling Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Bolt does the whole job, while in batting a guy stays in the middle and takes the team across the finish line. Someday Ishaan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya while on other days Quinton De Kock, Keiron Pollard or Krunal Pandya.
DC management and the captain needs to still think whether they will go with Stoinis as the opener or Rahane. Sending Stoinis as opener and Iyer at number 3, means there is no utility of Ajinkya Rahane in the team. Batting him at number 5 and 6 will cause more loss than gain. Moreover if Stoinis fails, there is no one at the end to finish the innings considering the form of Rishabh Pant with the bat.
Another big concern for DC is over dependency on Rabada and Nortje. A team which plays as a whole unit lifts the trophy. The likes of Ravi Ashwin, Praveen Dubey needs to step up if they want DC to be on the winning side.
For MI, Rohit Sharma’s form has been concern. The day Rohit plays, he will single handedly take away the game from the opponent. But this has been a rare sight in this year’s IPL. There has been also questions about his fitness. In today’s game Rohit has to make a statement and in order to do so he needs to deliver something special. Will Rohit Storm hit Dubai International Stadium today ?
No matter who wins today’s match, IPL 2020 was completely a roller coaster ride. All the teams have their 110%, but only 4 could qualify. Every fan played a big role in making this season the most watched of all time.
