From last few days, Karachi has become the epicenter of Great political drama in Pakistan. The protest which was started by political parties, has now turned into Sindh Police vs Pakistan Army.
Ironically in this political drama, not only the political parties are involved but non-civilian organisation like the Pakistan Army/ISI and Sindh Police are also playing their parts.

What is Happening in Karachi ?
Actually, it all started when 11 opposition parties including Nawaz Sharif’s party Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s party Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) organised massive anti-government rallies in Karachi against the Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and the Pakistan Army.
As the protest was organised against Imran Khan’s government and Army, it was very obvious that this act will hurt the ego of the Pakistani army.
As a result Captain Safdar Awan, husband of Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz got arrested.
The detention wasn’t taken out by the Karachi Police rather than Rangers (Equivalent to Pakistan Border Security Force) arrested Captain Safdar Awan.
He was arrested for having been a part of the massive anti-government rallies in Karachi organised by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), an amalgam of 11 opposition Political party. He was subsequently released on bail.
Sindh Police Vs Pakistani Army
Following Safdar’s arrest, a purported voice message by PML-N leader and former Sindh governor Muhammad Zubair was shared by a journalist in which Zubair alleged that the IG of police was kidnapped and forced to register the first information report against Maryam, her husband Safdar and 200 others for violating the sanctity of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s mausoleum.
In the audio clip which is circulating on Twitter, Zubair purportedly said that Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah confirmed to him that police was pressured into making the arrest. “When they refused to do that, Rangers kidnapped (the IGP),” Zubair said.
Following the abduction of Sindh IG Police by Pakistani Army, several Sindhi Police officers including AIGs, DIGs and SSPs to go on protest leave against the humiliation.
Soon after the leave was announced, IG Sindh in Pakistan has decided to put protest leave application on hold for 10 days after assurance from Pak Army Chief that impartial inquiry will be done.
IG Sindh has decided to defer his own leave and ordered his officers to set aside their leave applications for ten days in the larger national interest, pending the conclusion of the inquiry.

Is Pakistan on the verge of Civil War ?
It is too early to comment whether Pakistan is on the verge of Civil war or not! But if the Pakistani army is able to keep its ego aside, then perhaps this matter will settle down.
If we talk about opposition alliance against ruling government, than it is just a normal practice by the opposition in any democracy around the globe.
If we accept Pakistan’s claim that they are a democratic country, than these anti-government rallies has nothing to do with army unless and until the protest become violent and uncontrollable.
