According to latest report, BCCI can opt out from sponsorship deal with Vivo in IPL after the ongoing border tension between India and China.
The face off between Indian and Chinese Army in LAC has created an outrage among the people of the country. People are demanding the Government to ban Chinese Apps and products. Nothing stands infront of National Security. People are demanding to boycott all the Chinese apps after 20 Indian soldiers were killed during the face off.
Vivo, a chinese smartphone company has been the title sponsor for IPL for past 4 years. VIVO acquired the sponsorship deal in 2016 after PepsiCo withdrew the title sponsorship deal terminating the 5 year contract.
But recently seeing the current anger and outrage IPL Governing Council is taking the note of the situation. The official twitter handle of IPL tweeted, “Taking note of the border skirmish that resulted in the martyrdom of our brave jawans, the IPL Governing Council has convened a meeting next week to review IPL’s various sponsorship deals”.

However reacting to people demanding to end the sponsorship deal with VIVO, BCCI treasurer Arjun Dhumal said, “When you talk emotionally, you tend to leave the rationale behind. We have to understand the difference between supporting a Chinese company for a Chinese cause or taking help from Chinese companies to support India’s cause”.
In 2018, Vivo signed a five year sponsorship deal with IPL for a whopping amount of 2109 Crore. The sponsorship deal will be ending on 2022 but seeing the current situation the deal can end anytime soon
