ICC in a statement said that India loosed the first spot because the points of 2016-17 were excluded from the latest ranking. The latest updates rates all the matches played since May 29 at 100% and those before that at 50%.
India had an exceptional 2016-17 season, where the team won all 5 test series, including the test series played against Australia and England. Australia now has 116 pts while New Zealand has 115 pts and India 114.
