Its 2020 and nothing seems going right. The Virat Kohli’s men who conquered Australia two years back are now struggling really hard. But what’s more surprising is Virat Kohli’s form. One the greatest batsman to ever grace the field has no clue about the deadly bouncers and the swinging deliveries.
For the first time since his debut in 2008, Virat Kohli has failed to make an ODI century in a calendar year. Truly surprising ! The run machine has set the standards so high that he is not able to match himself. In 2009, Virat made his first century against Sri Lanka, in 2010 Kohli scored 3 centuries against Bangladesh, Australia and New Zealand.
In 2011, Virat scored 4 centuries two against England, 1 against Bangladesh and 1 against West Indies. In 2012 4 against Sri Lanka and 1 against Pakistan. In 2013 two against Australia, 1 against West Indies and 1 against Zimbabwe. In 2014, against New Zealand, Bangladesh, West Indies and Sri Lanka. In 2015 against Pakistan and South Africa.
In 2016, 2 against Australia and 1 against New Zealand. In 2017, 2 against Sri Lanka, 2 against New Zealand, 1 against West Indies and 1 against England. In 2018, a total of 6 against West Indies and South Africa. In 2019 5 centuries, 3 against Australia and 2 against West Indies.
But 2020 is a nightmare for Virat Kohli and Indian Cricket. India faced humiliating defeat in both the ODIs against Australia. Moreover the big concern for the management and the captain is, India’s bowling unit. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal are struggling with the line and lengths. While in the third ODI, till now the batting has failed.
In the 3 matches, Virat Kohli has scored 173, certainly not the level of domination one expects from King Kohli. However in last two ODI the captain was looking good. Now fans are hoping that the 2021 brings pride and matter of celebration for Virat and Team India.
