The Yogi Adityanath government is all set to set a new guinness world record by planting 25 crore trees across Uttar Pradesh on Sunday in a massive plantation drive.
These saplings will be planted under the ‘Mission Vriksharopan-2020’. Uttar Pradesh government had already secured a place in the Guinness Book of World Records last year by planting 22 crore saplings in a day.
Thus massive planting event will be possible through People’s participation and inter-departmental organisation.
An AIR correspondent reports that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the ‘MissionVriksharopan-2020’ in Kukarel forest in capital city Lucknow. Under this mission, medicinal, fruit yielding , environmental, shady, fodder, and other important plants of more than 201 species will be planted in a day.
Forest department will plant 10 crore saplings and the rest 15 crore will plant will be planted by the other state department and other institutions.
“Trees like Saal, Jamun, Peepal, Bargad, Khirni are associated with Gautam Buddha and will be planted in the Guru Vatika. Many plants mentioned in the holy books of Sikhs –Reetha sahib, Tili Saheb and Ber Saheb — which are associated with Guru Nanak Dev, will also get space in the garden,” said Avinash Kumar, the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO).
Though, it might happen that these all 25 Crore trees plantation project just become victim of red tapism.
After the plantation of 22 crore spalings a green activist in Agra told IANS that these are paper trees to be found only in files of the government.
So it will be very interesting to see that out of 25 crore trees how many plans will be survived after the plantation.
