IPL season 13 is all set to be hosted by UAE says Governing Council Chairman Brijesh Patel after ICC T20 World got postponed on Monday, July 21.
IPL 2020 was scheduled to begin from 29th March, but the Coronavirus pandemic forced the Governing Council and BCCI to postpone the tournament indefinitely. But now according to latest developments UAE will be hosting the 13th edition of the tournament, as ICC (International Cricket Council) has postponesd the T20 World Cup which was scheduled to take place in Australia. According to latest report, a full fledged IPL is on the way as BCCI (Board Of Control For Cricket In India) is targeting the September- October window.
This will not be the first time that the country will be hosting the IPL. Earlier in 2014, UAE has hosted the first phase of the tournament as it was clashing with Lok Sabha Elections in India.
The importance that IPL holds for Indian Cricket as well as World Cricket is not hidden from anyone. Lot of money is at stake and it was assumed, BCCI will go all out to organise this tournament. If the cash rich league gets cancelled BCCI will incur a loss of more than INR 4000 Crore along with all the stakeholders.
