One of the most popular domestic leagues in the country Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) has been postponed for the second time due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fifth edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) was initially scheduled to take place from June 10 to July 12 but then postponed in May by Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) due to COVID 19.
The TNCA said it would try to host the tournament in November this year or March 2021 as per a report.
The TNCA was looking to conduct the event between July-end and September but due to the raging health crisis, it will not be in a position to host the tournament.
“We will explore possibilities of playing the 5th edition of the tournament in an alternate window i.e either in November 2020 or in March 2021, ” he added.
With the recent government orders prohibiting sporting activities in August and also IPL Scheduled to take place in September-November, getting a window for TNPL around this time also seems unlikely.
Tamil Nadu has so far seen over 2.4 lakh coronavirus cases and with more than 3,935 deaths recorded till now.
