‘The White Tiger’ gets an Oscars 2021 nomination, see the full list

A very big news for all the Indians out there. The Ramin Bahrani directorial The White Tiger has received a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay in Oscars 2021 alongside The Father, Nomadland, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm and One Night in Miami.

The White Tiger written by Ramin Bahrani for the screen is adapted from Aravind Adiga’s 2008 novel of the same name. The film’s story revolves around Balram, who comes from a poor Indian village and uses his wit and cunning to escape from poverty.

On the evening(IST) of March 15, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas announced the list of nominees for the 93rd Academy Awards and put an end to all the speculations. Films like The Father, The Trail of the Chicago 7, Sound of Metal, Nomadland, Mank, Promising Young Woman, Judas and the Black Messiah and Minari received nominations for the Best Picture.

Riz Ahmed(Sound of Metal), Chadwick Boseman(Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom), Anthony Hopkins(The Father), Gary Oldman(Mank) and Steven Yeun(Minari) are nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role(male) while Viola Davis(Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom), Andra Day(The United States vs. Billie Holiday), Vanessa Kirby(Pieces of a Woman), Frances Mcdormand(Nomadland) and Carey Mulligan(Promising Young Woman) received nominations for Actor in a Leading Role (female).

Oscars 2021 was originally scheduled to take place on February 28, 2021 but due to the global pandemic dates were pushed forward. Now the ceremony will be happen on Sunday, April 25, 2021 and you can watch it on ABC Network.
