Sreesanth aims to create history, wants to be in the 2023 World Cup team

Former Indian Cricketer S. Sreesanth who will be making his comeback in competitive Cricket after seven years of serving ban has expressed his desire to play the 2023 World Cup for India and win the cup.

Sreesanth will be turning up for his state team Kerala in the 2020/21 season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He is also ready to join the Kerala team’s conditioning camp and looks very confident. And his phoenix tattoo on his bowling arm is proof of that which signifies undying hope to perform and prove.

According to a report of TOI, Sreesanth has set a goal for himself and that is to represent India in the 2023 world cup. Representing a National side at over 40 years of age not looks practical especially for a fast bowler but Shree is all hopeful.

“As a fast bowler, I will be creating history but then, I like to create history. I am not just looking at the season ahead but at the next three years. My real goal is to be in the 2023 world cup team and win the cup,” he says.

There are many questions raised already about his character and his comeback related to his fitness but he is working hard to not let any stone unturned. “I am bowling in the 135-145 mph range. I will bowl 140-plus when it is needed. I can still wake up at 3 am and bowl those outswingers, inswingers and yorkers. After all, any guy under a helmet is just a batsman, whatever the commentators may say about him. My run-up will be shorter but I will be more accurate and more in control of my emotions,” he says.

Coming to the domestic tournament, he says that he is excited to play under Tinu Yohannan and looking forward to play with Sanju Samson. “Our first match will be at the Wankhede stadium where I had played my last India match, so life is coming full circle, Kerala has never won this tournament but we have a very good team now. I am excited to be a part of this unit and also play under the guidance of Tinu Yohannan.

Both Tinu and Samson have said that they want to gift the trophy to me as I make a comeback. But I am not looking only at Syed Mushtaq Ali but to win Irani and Ranji. If I will get more opportunities, I have been getting inquires for IPL, too, and I have to make sure that I am fit and bowling well,” he says.
