Former Pakistan bowler Shoaib Akhtar lashed out at ICC after no Pakistani player featured in ICC’s team of Decade in any format. He specifically put the whole blame on India that ICC has released the IPL team of the decade.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Akhtar expressed his disappointment and said it is very embarrassing and unfortunate for Pakistan that no player feature in the ICC team.
“I think ICC forgot that Pakistan is also a member of ICC. In my opinion, ICC has released the IPL team of a decade instead of the World team. ICC has forgotten that Pakistan also plays T20I. Player like Babar Azam who is a top T20 batsman in the world doesn’t get a place. We don’t need your(ICC) T20I Team of the decade because you announced the IPL team, not a world cricket team. ICC’s rules and conduct are beyond imagination,” he said.
He pointed out that ICC is running only after money and ruining the game in the process. “ICC is all concerned about TV rights, sponsorship and money. As BCCI is the richest cricketing body so ICC is inclined towards India. It has brought new sets of rules and allowed permission for bodies to conduct various leagues that affect players.”
“Where are those Sachin-Shoaib battle, where is Waqar(Younis) and Wasim(Akram)? and big five of West Indies. No good player is coming through the ranks. That is because ICC commercialized and materialized cricket so much and allowed ten leagues to earn more revenue. They want to conduct two world cups in three years and have several leagues.”
Speaking on Virat Kohli, Akhtar said you can compare Azam and Kohli and see who has the better average.
