RR Vs RCB
Royal Challengers Bangalore have defeated Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets in Dubai today. What an epitome class act from Mr. 360 AB De Villiers. The wicketkeeper batsman single handedly took RCB across the finishing line in today’s game.
While the chances of RCB qualifying for the playoffs have increased, Rajasthan Royals are in a big trouble. Rajasthan Royals till now have attained only 6 points after 8 matches. Rajasthan Royals were under full control, but Jaydev Unadkat’s 19th over completely turned around the game. Smith’s decision to bring Jaydev before Jofra Archer in the 19th over raised a lot of criticism and backlash.
With help of Steve Smith 51 Runs knock and R. Uthappa 41 runs, RR got to a fightable total of 177 runs at the end of 20 overs. However Rajasthan were 10 runs short as South African all rounder Chris Morris only gave 4 runs in the last over.
When RCB came into bat, Aaron Finch was firing at one end while Padikkal took a backfoot. Aaron couldn’t continue his innings for long and gave his wiket to leg spinner Shreyas Gopal. After Finch’s departure Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal tried to build a strong foundation but in that process the required run rate kept soaring high.
The runs on the board put a lot of pressure on both the batsman. Virat Kohli was seen hitting some big shots, but then in 2 consecutive overs, first Devdutt Padikkal and then King Kohli were back to the dressing rooms. Two new batsman AB De Villiers and Gurkeerat Singh were on the middle and Steve Smith’s Rajasthan Royals were completely dominating the play.
But then came a move of Steve Smith that surprised everyone. 35 runs were needed in the last 2 overs, and the captain brought Jaydev Unadkat infront of Mr. 360. 3 consecutive sixes and 1 four completely pushed RR to backfoot. The shoulders were down, confidence low, RR completely gave up infront of genius of AB De Villiers.
Steve Smith’s captaincy in this tournament has been disappointing. 19th over is the most crucial and RR was completely in the game. Ab De Villiers was set and hitting the bowl well, but Steve Smith’s move of introducing Unadkat before England pacer Jofra Archer can cost RR the tournament.
