Bosco Martis directorial debut movie titled ‘Rocket Gang’ will be Bollywood’s first movie to be shot in real time virtual reality. The movie is a dance horror comedy and stars Aditya Seal and Nikita Dutta in lead. The film will be produced by Zee Studios and is expected to release in 2021.
The use of virtual reality can either set or break a film. Earlier in Hollywood movies like Jungle Book & The Lion King, real time virtual reality has been carried, now it’s the big challenge for makers to produce that level of output.
However the virtual reality will help the makers in big way, during these unprecedented times the process will help the makers in reducing the post production time and decreasing the manpower originally required.
Bosco Martis said to PTI, “The strength of the film is the virtual reality experience which would be first of its kind in Bollywood. It will be challenging but we are very excited to explore this. Especially in today’s times when we are fighting Covid-19 and the situation we are in right now”.
Other than the lead cast the movie also stars 5 kids and few dancers from Indian Dance reality show’Dance India Dance’. It was need of the hour to start the movie, as the makers didn’t want the kids to grow up.
The movie was earlier scheduled to go on floors on March 18, however the nationwide Covid-19 lockdown forced the makers to halt the film. Seeing no hope about the future, the makers will now finally start the filming of the movie with the help of virtual reality.
There will be many challenges and hurdles coming forward, however the team is ready to explore this journey. The Director would pre-visualise scenes and atmosphere and would also create three dimensional virtual set to enhance the experience. The team of Rock Gang will soon start a new journey to a different world, however it would be interesting to see how they will reach the destination.
