The legacy will never die, Rishi Kapoor’s best movies

Rishi Kapoor who was suffering from cancer for past 2 years, is now no more with us. But what will stay with us are his memories, his charming smile, his persona and his everlasting great works. In a career spanning for more than 40 years he left no stone unturned to entertain his audience. The actor has given tons to the film industry. Although being a son of The Great Raj Kapoor he made a name for himself.

At a time when Amitabh Bachchan, Jitendra, Dharmendra were reigning over the silver screen, Rishi Kapoor with his romantic characters and charisma touched people’s hearts and became the evergreen heartthrob of Indian Cinema. His mere presence in a film could melt people’s heart. As a child Rishi Kapoor made his appearance in Shree 420 song Pyaar Hua Ikraar hua and later went on to win National award best child artist for playing the role of younger version of his father in the film Mera Naam Joker.

Karz released back in 1980 and was directed by Subhash Ghai starring Rishi Kapoor, Tina Munim and Simi Garewal. The movie was produced by Akhtar Farooqui. However this film was crushed by Qurbani by Firoz Khan. Rishi Kapoor in his autobiography book Khulam Khulla mentioned, that they were pretty confident about their film, but when the film doomed at box office, he went onto depression. The film later went on to become a classic, and it’s musical numbers are still famous.

Bobby

The film released back in 1973 and was produced and directed by Rishi Kapoor’s father Raj Kapoor. The film stars Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia. With this film Rishi Kapoor became an overnight star, and took him to a next level of stardom. Bobby is one of the most famous movies of Bollywood. With Bobby Rishi Kapoor peirced into the hearts of millions.

Amar Akbar Anthony

Amar Akbar Anthony released back in 1977 and was directed and produced by Manmohan Desai. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna and Rishi Kapoor as male lead and Shabana Azmi, Parveen Babi and Neetu Singh as female lead. Rishi Kapoor played the role Akbaar in the movie and marked his presence. This film became one of the biggest hits and won many awards at 25th Filmfare award.

Rishi Kapoor holds a very special place in Indian Cinema. With changing times, he evolved and continued to entertain his fans. Rishi Kapoor’s will continue to inspire millions through his work and the legacy that he left behind.
