RCB vs SRH
Royal Challengers Bangalore have finally managed to win their opening encounter of the IPL match after 3 years. The last time RCB won their opening match of the IPL was in 2016 against the same opposition Sunrisers Hyderabad.
In the third match of the Dream11 IPL 2020, RCB defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 10 runs to register their first win of the season courtesy of a brilliant batting display by the debutant Devdutt Padikkal and AB de Villiers before Chahal turned the game with his Google and leg break.
RCB posted 163-5 after put into bat by David Warner. Padikkal(56 off 42 balls) making his debut smoked a blistering half-century. He gave a brilliant start which saw RCB cross 80 runs in 10 overs. AB de Villiers provided the finishing in the end with his 51 off 30 balls.
Jonny Bairstow and Manish Pandey laid the foundation for Sunrisers but Chahal turned the match with a double break in the 17th over by sending Bairstow on 61 and Vijay Shankar on a duck. Then Navdeep Saini sent the timber off the ground by bowling out Bhuvneshwar and Rashid Khan in the same over. RCB at the end managed to get a 10 run victory.
The Last time RCB won their opening match was in 2016 against the same SRH. They posted 227-4 with De Villiers and Kohli smashing 82 and 75 runs respectively. SRH lost that game by 45 runs managing 182-6 in 20 overs.
Yuzvendra Chahal was adjudged the man of the match for his 3-18 runs spell. In his post-match interview he said – “When I bowled my first over, I realised I need to bowl stump-to-stump line and backed myself. At one point they were batting well and I was trying to bowl loopy ones and wide of the reach which helped in building pressure”.
“When I bowled to Pandey (Manish) I was trying to outside off-stump and with Bairstow, I bowled little fuller and when Vijay(Shankar) came Virat and AB told me to go for a googly and it worked. I put some mud on my hands to make sure there is no dew and really brilliant.”
