RCB is looking a tough contender, the confidence and self belief of the team is soaring high. After defeating KKR today, RCB have attained 10 points and are standing at number 3 position in the points table. While their are some concerns with KKR. The management and the captain needs to find a proper balance. This match proved what an asset Sunil Narine is for KKR, due to his unavailability in today’s match KKR struggled a lot.

Match Summary:

Aaron Finch and young Devdutt Padikkal began strong for Royal Challengers Bangalore. With every game young Devdutt is showcasing his talent and temperament and proving India’s future is in right hands. However with Devdutt Padikkal departure, RCB started struggling. Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Varun Chakravarthy 8 overs spell helped the Knights to contain the flow of runs.

But then arrived Mr 360, Ab De Villiers and single handedly snatched away the match from the opponent. His incredible knock of 73 runs from 33 balls with 6 sixes and 5 four helped RCB reach 194. At a time when Virat Kohli was struggling, ABD came as saviour. In a slow pitch where all the batsmen were struggling, he proved why he is an incredible talent. The running between the wickets and the communication between King Kohli and ABD helped Bangalore to get those few extra runs.

But KKR completely crumbled by the scoreboard pressure. Chasing 195 the openers failed to give a good start. However Shubhman Gill was looking in a good touch, his partner, the debutant Tom Banton failed to impress the fans. Navdeep Saini gave an early breakthrough by taking Tom Banton’s wicket which added extra pressure on the middle order after the powerplay.

The two spinners for Royal Challengers Bangalore created the difference. Sharjah, which is considered as an haunting place for spinners but the Bangalore spinners proved when you have talent and temperament their is no looking back. In 8 overs both the spinners conceded only 32 runs, Yuzi Chahal (12 runs in 4 overs), Washington Sundar (20 runs in 4 overs) by picking 3 wickets. KKR’s batsmen succumbed to the pressure and were playing forceful shorts that resulted to fall of wickets.

The likes of Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Kartik, Nitish Rana were seen struggling hard against the RCB spinners. Andre Russell form and fitness in the first 7 games have been a concern. No matter their was hope till Russell was in the crease, but with his departure the match was over.

There are still few questions which the KKR management needs to look at. Is the management doing full justice to Rahul Tripathi ? The young lad performed whenever he was given the opportunity to open the innings, however in today’s match the management had to go with England opener Banton.

KKR will play their next game against MI in Abu Dhabi. It would be interesting to see whether Sunil Narine comes back in place of Tom Banton and Rahul Tripathi is again given the opportunity to open along with Shubhman Gill.
