Raat Akeli Hai is a crime mystery thriller. The film revolves around the investigation of the murder of Thakur Raghubeer Singh played by Khaild Tyabji. Nawazuddin Siddiqui is back in his police avatar for this film. His way of investigation and cross-questioning keeps the mystery interesting. Radhika Apte is also back on Netflix with this film and she again showed us why she is such a praiseworthy actress.

Hands down, the best quality about this 2 hour 29 minutes thriller is it’s brilliant writing and screenplay by Smita Singh. She doesn’t choosed to present the story in a fast pace just like everyone is doing right now everywhere in the world. But she opt for a slow paced environment, where you will understand the characters and their intentions more clearly.

The film felt like a book of crimes, in which with every page turn you’ll be getting closer to the actual culprit. The film is set in current time Kanpur, so the use of accuracy in the language is very crucial. Dialogues were impactful with the use of Hindi and English in every consecutive sentence. Smita Singh did her part with perfection.

The film doesn’t stylish much with it’s visuals. Cinematographer Pankaj Kumar tries to captures the city in it’s real state. At parts, the visuals may surprise you with it’s approach and will give you a sense of excitement. Honey Trehan showed us in this film, how good is he with his direction. Not for a single second, I felt like I am watching a debutant director’s work.

The strongest quality of the film is the performance by every single cast member. From Inspector Jatil Yadav to Chunni, everyone did their level best with their characters. Their grip on their character’s body language is top notch. Their real intentions are hidden behind their skins.

Other than Jatil Yadav and Radha, Munna Raja played by Aditya Srivastava impresses me very much. Nishant Dahiya and Shreedhar Dubey rightly portrayed their parts. Their support to the main leads in several scenes, helped the story to become more interesting. Ila Arun ji is like the sweet dessert of this main course, her parts with Nawaz are very enjoyable.

As a whole, Raat Akeli Hai is a well executed crime mystery thriller which surprises you after every 10 minutes. The big reveals of the story came with such ease that it doesn’t distract the film’s final destination. If you looking for good 2 and a half hour thriller, Raat Akeli Hai is for you. It is available to watch on Netflix.
