The largest Stadium in the world Motera has now been renamed as Narendra Modi Stadium. The decision just came ahead of the 3rd test between India and England.
Indian President Ramnath Kovind inaugurated the stadium along with Home Minister Amit Shah. Sports Minister Kiren Rajju, Gujarat Governer Acharya Devrat and BCCI Secretary Jay Shah were also present on this occasion.
The stadium has the capacity of holding more than 1,00,000 people and has magnificent indoor practice pitches and gymansium. The stadium was constructed in 1982 and hosted it’s first International Test match between India and West Indies in 1983-84. But after reconstruction, surpassing Eden Gardens and MCG, Motera created history.
Home Minister Amit Shah said, “Coupled with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave & Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, a sports complex will also be built in Naranpura. These 3 will be equipped to host any international sports event. Ahmedabad to be known as the ‘sports city’ of India”.
Today history will be made, when Virat Kohli’s men will clash against the mighty England in Narendra Modi Stadium. The stadium is set to mark a new beginning of sports culture in the country. The modern India, the New India progressive in its infrastructurel development.
While England had one the 1st Test in Chennai, Team India completely outplayed the visitors in the 2nd Test. This pink ball test will decide India’s fate in World Test Championship.
