2020 has been a terrible year for Entertainment Industry as well as fans. While many of the big ticket films were postponed, OTT platforms didn’t really served to the mass audience. The Covid-19 pandemic resulted to a loss of more than 1500 Crore among Exhibition sector.
At many instances film exhibitors had requested to the production houses to halt and release it on theatres after everything gets back to normal. The single screens incurred heavy loss. According to the figures given by Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh to TOI, the total loss of Bollywood is more than 4000 Crore.
But now it’s 2021 and everyone is hopeful that again things will get back to normal and fans will be able to cheer, clap for their favourite superstars on the 75mm silver screen. Officially the announcement has not yet been made by YRF, but the power of Shah Rukh Khan fandom can be proved by the fact that without any official confirmation, “Pathan” has managed to gain a massive buzz.

Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai
Radhe directed by Prabhu Deva, starring Salman Khan, Megha Akash, Randeep Hooda, Jackie Shroff and Disha Patani is one of the most awaited movies of 2021. Salman Khan, the favourite man of the masses can surely bring audience back to the theatres with this film.
The power of Salman Khan can be felt by the fact that, recently a report suggested that makers of Radhe have planned to release their film on OTT for a charge of whopping 250 Cr. Since this news broke, Exhibitors association wrote a letter of request to the Superstar on releasing his film in theatres first.
The film was earlier scheduled to release on Eid (22 May, 2020), but the pandemic forced the makers to postpone the film by one year. Now the film will be releasing on Eid 2021. The Bhaijaan of Bollywood is all set to shatter all the Box Office records and create new benchmarks with this film if it releases in theatres. 2020, without Salman Khan movie must have been a very difficult task for his fans.
Akshay Kumar is having dream run at Box office. Akshay’s movie have been earning big numbers, and since past few years the Khiladi Kumar is a dominating force. Akshay Kumar could be a sigh of relief for Exhibitors across India.
Sooryavanshi, directed by Rohit Shetty and starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in lead was earlier scheduled to release 24 March, 2020. But due to Covid-19, the film was later postponed. The film has all the elements to become a box office hit. The 100 Cr machine, Rohit Shetty, the iconic pair of Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif and Khiladi Kumar back in cop role. The film has capabilities to pull back audience into the theatres.
The much talked Brahmāstra is one of the most anticipated movies of 2021. Ayan Mukerji’s dream project starring Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt is being considered as a game changer. The part one of Ayan Mukerji’s trilogy was initially announced to release on 15 August 2019, but later was pushed to Christmas 2019 due to production issue.
The film underwent few postponement due to VFX issue and Covid-19 pandemic. The film is being called as the Avatar of India. People have high expectations and hopes from this Amitabh Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor starrer. However it will be interesting to see whether the regular postpone helped the film in maintaining the buzz or hampered all the hard work of the makers.
