Pakistani Cricketer Mohammed Hafeez said as a fan he felt India lacked intent of winning the match against England.
The India Vs England match in World Cup 2019 has been again into the headlines, this time Pakistan all rounder Mohammad Hafeez has claimed that India was surely lacked the intent.
The match came into highlight when England all- rounder Ben Stokes in his book mentioned that, “I was surprised that how India chased the game. The way Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma took up the game was really shocking. MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav clearly lacked intent, instead of going for big hits they were interested in taking singles”. Since than the match has been revolving around controversy.

Many former Pakistani players like Abdul Razaq, Basit Ali, Waqar Younis and many more have claimed that, to restrict Pakistan from qualifying India have intentionally lost the game. Now the new member of the squad is Mohammad Hafeez. Mohammad Hafeez has recently shared his thoughts about that game. He said, “I don’t blame someone else for our failure. We shouldn’t think that we bowed out of tournament because of one single match. However if you show that Cricket match to any cricket fan even 100 times, the fan will take only one result from that game- the intent to play with that spirit wasn’t there. As a fan I found it painful as I didn’t see both the teams playing for win”
Ind Vs Eng held a lot of importance for Pakistan. India winning the match against England meant the chances of Pakistan qualifying to the semi finals were more. Pakistan showed a very poor performance in the initial phase of the tournament, but when it started to peak it was already late.
India were chasing a humongous total of 337. Despite Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli scoring 102 & 66 India lost the game. The match was criticized by the former players for Dhoni’s inability to finish the game. Pakistani fans criticized Indian team for lossing the game deliberately. Few of Indian Former Cricketers like Sourav Ganguly, Sanjay Manjrekar also raised question about India’s lack of intent.
West Indies fast Bowler Michael Holding came in support of India saying, “I saw the terrible feeling of loosing the match in Dhoni’s face”.
