MI Vs RCB
Keiron Pollard’s Mumbai Indians have defeated Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore by 5 wickets in Abu Dhabi today. Now Mumbai Indians have become the first team to attain 16 points and are a step closer to qualify for the playoffs.
But there are some key things which RCB needs to look at. Navdeep Saini has been exceptional for RCB in first 6 overs as well as the death overs. His absence from the playing 11 hurted RCB very badly. RCB also needs to find out who can take the charge after Ab De Villiers and help the team reach a respectable score.
But what stood in today’s match is Suryakumar Yadav’s match winning knock of 79 runs in 43 balls. After India’s squad for Australia tour was announced there were lot of debate on, ‘why selectors are not paying attention to Surya’s performance’. Suryakumar has been a consistent performer for Mumbai Indians as well as in Domestic cricket.
Suryakumar Yadav has been Mr. Dependable for Mumbai Indians. Whenever the team needs him, the batsman rolls up his sleeves and help the team in attaining victories. In first class cricket Yadav has scored 5, 326 runs in 77 matches averaging over 44, with a strike rate of 62.7. After today’s knock, it was clear statement to all his critiques and selectors who are ignoring him in all these years.
People were expecting that Suryakumar Yadav will be part of Australia tour, but to everyone’s surprise it was completely opposite. The Mumbai Indians batsman failed to make into India’s squad. A player like Suryakumar Yadav can’t be ignored any longer, he has started knocking the door of selectors. Not only the innings he played, but the strong temperament, sheer brilliance and the epitome class he displayed was worth watching.
While Jasprit Bumrah’s fierce bowling was also incredible. Bumrah took important breakthroughs of Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli and Shivam Dube restricted RCB to 165 runs. RCB lacked in the last 5 overs. In the last 5 over, Royal Challengers Bangalore only managed to score 33 runs. Young Devdutt Padikkal fought hard till the end and scored 74 runs in 45 balls, but there was no support from the other hand.
Royal Challengers Bangalore are now standing at number 2 in the points table. Virat Kohli and his boys will be facing Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals in the next two matches. To cement their place on Playoffs, RCB needs to atleast win 1 out of those 2 matches.
