KXIP vs MI
Mumbai Indians defeated Kings XI Punjab by a good margin of 48 runs to affect the healthy run rate of Kings XI. Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya late surge in the final overs help Mumbai edge past Punjab in Match 13 of Dream11 IPL 2020 at Abu Dhabi.
Mumbai Indians put up a brilliant score of 191-4 in 20 overs on the back of strong performances by Rohit Sharma who scored a tremendous 70 runs off 45 balls before being dismisssed by Shami. Late blows by Pollard(47) and H.Pandya(30) helped them to reach a good position. They were banging Sixes after sixes. They scored 62 runs of thr final three overs.
Punjab in reply got a good start with Mayank Aggarwal and KL Rahul giving them a good start as they reached 33 runs in first 3 overs but Jasprit Bumrah striked for MI as he sent Aggarwal stumps in the air. Soon after Krunal Pandya bowled Karun Nair to send him pavillion. K.L Rahul also threw his wicket looking to play a scoop. Nicholas Pooran did gave them a chance but Maxwell at the other end was struggling to pace his inning. Pooran departed after scoring 44 runs and then Mumbai bowling got the better of Punjab.
The start Kings XI had with the ball as well as with the bat was excellent but they threw it away in both the departments towards the middle stage.
They lost their morale when they conceded 62 runs off the last three overs but in IPL you can’t afford to think like that before the game is over.
Once Mayank got them off to a great start, the onus was on him to get the runs while KL was anchoring, but MI spinners bowled smartly and got the breakthroughs. Pooran promised a lot, but he had too much to do alone and a struggling Maxwell failing to turn up for Kings XI is not helping their cause.
Rahul Chahar’s along with Krunal did a fine job. Pattinson impressed with two wickets yet again and Bumrah was as usual was excellent.
K.L Rahul in his post-match interview pointed out his team errors and team combination.
“Obviously disappointing. Looking back, we could’ve been three wins out of four. This game, we made some mistakes. Important we come back stronger. The wicket looked good with the new ball. Don’t know if it slowed up after that. Another bowling option would be nice – an all-rounder option who can bat and bowl well. We Will be sitting with the coaches to decide if we want to play an extra bowler”, said Rahul.
Kieron Pollard was named the man of the match. Kings XI would be playing Chennai Super Kings on October 4 in Dubai while Mumbai will be playing Sunrisers Hyderabad in Sharjah.
