What a thriller encounter between David Warner’s Sunrisers Hyderabad and Eoin Morgan’s Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR defeated SRH in the superover in today’s match in Abu Dhabi. But this game will be remembered for the spell of Lockie Ferguson. Playing his first game in this season of IPL the Kiwi pacer took 5 wickets (including the super over) and conceded only 17 runs.

Lockie steaming in to bowl was a visual worth watching, but credit should also be given to SRH for fighting back and their never gave up attitude. Lockie Ferguson spell completely pushed David Warner’s SRH to backfoot. Captain Eoin Morgan bowling changes were on point, the decision to bring Lockie after the end of powerplay 1 worked wonders for the team.

What stood with Lockie in today’s match was not just bowling with pace, but also using his variations to fool the batsman. Mostly a team dominates a play, but today Lockie was dominating SRH. When Pat Cummins is not on best of his form, Lockie Ferguson took the responsibility and made sure that his team is on the winning side.

In today’s game Lockie was fighting like a lone warrior, everytime the captain brought him he took important breakthroughs. The wickets of Kane Williamson, Priyam Garg, Manish Pandey put David Warner under pressure. However now questions are being raised why David Warner came out to bat at number 4 ? It is a sign of negative mindset.

David Warner and Abdul Samad kept fighting till the end and took their team almost to the finishing line. Andre Russell’s last over went for 18 runs as his hamstring injury caused a lot of pain. Now this is a big question, yesterday we saw Bravo and today Russell, playing with cricketers who are not 100% fit can cost a tournament, but KKR managed to tie this match and take it to the super over.

In the super over we again witnessed Lockie’s magic. Lockie Ferguson single handedly snatched away the match from the opponent. With the likes of David Warner and Bairstow people expect big runs in superovers, but today it was Lockie Ferguson day and no one could have stood in front of him.

In the superover Lockie Ferguson just conceded 2 runs and took two important wickets of David Warner and Abdul Samad. For KKR it was cake walk, Dinesh Kartik and Eoin Morgan easily chased the total and attained 2 points.

This match proved in big occasion, only big player delivers. The greatness of Lockie Ferguson was witnessed in Abu Dhabi today, this win would boost the confidence and belief among the KKR players. Kolkata Knight Riders have now attained 10 points and are very close to qualifying for the playoffs while the road ahead for SRH is extremely difficult.
