Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore have defeated Eoin Morgan’s Kolkata Knight Riders by 8 wickets. But more than loosing, the way KKR played was extremely saddening to see the lack of attitude, temperament and skill.

However Rajasthan Royals, KXIP and Sunrisers Hyderabad will be enjoying this moment as the chances of them qualifying to playoffs have increased.

RCB bowlers have completed exposed KKR’s weak batting line up. Mohammed Siraj after a bad game against KXIP came back and roared like a lion. He proved, this is where he belongs and no one could stand infront of him. By taking important wickets of Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Rana and Tom Banton he completely pushed KKR to backfoot.

Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar and Chris Morris took crucial wickets and restricted KKR to just 84 runs at the end of 20 overs. One don’t accept this kind of performance by a 2 times IPL Champion. It seemed Virat Kohli and his boys were taking revenge of what Gautam Gambhir did to RCB 2 years back.

Royal Challengers Bangalore were completely dominating the play. RCB were going for kill, while KKR were trying as hard as they could to save themselves, but failed miserably.

Virat Kohli’s captaincy worked perfectly in today’s game. From the first over itself, Kolkata Knight Riders seemed to be in a hurry and lack of patience.

A low total like this is easily attainable, specially if the chasing team is RCB. However Eoin Morgan’s captaincy has also come in radar in today’s game. Lockie Ferguson, the star of the previous match was brought into attack at the end of 6 overs. RCB very easily chased 84 runs at a loss of 2 wickets at the end of 13th over.

Now questions are being raised, Does KKR really deserve a place in the playoffs. The injury of Andre Russell and Sunil Narine is now a big concern. But the biggest disappointment for KKR in this season is Shubhman Gill. Gill’s job in this team should be to play the role of anchor and let everyone play around him. But the young talented cricketer is failing to impress his fans and giving a chance to his critique.

The 20 year old has just scored 312 runs in 10 matches with a strike rate of just 111.12 in this season of IPL. People had a lot of expectations from Shubhman, even after staying in the middle he gifts his wicket to the bowler. In a team where the top 3 batsmen are inexperienced and 2 of them are uncapped is sure to face trouble.

But after KKR’s defeat in today’s game, KXIP, RR, SRH will be jumping in joy as the chances of these teams qualifying to the Playoffs has increased. Kolkata Knight Riders now stand at number 4 position with 8 points while RCB are on the verge of qualifying to the playoffs.

From here on KXIP, RR and SRH have to win all their game if they want their team to qualify for the playoffs. While statistically CSK can still qualify, but practically it seems impossible.
