IPL team KKR owned by Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Jai Mehta along with Khan’s NGO Meer Foundation has provided a helping hand and extended support in aftermath of Amphan in West Bengal.
Cyclone Amphan can caused a lot of destruction in West Bengal. Cyclone Amphan, which arrived on 20th May caused huge loss to life and property. More than 85 people were killed. Heavy rainfall accompanied with fierce wind uprooted trees destroyed telecommunications. The people are still facing difficulties, with no water supply and electricity in some places.
The Central Government announced a relief package of 1000 Cr for the state to cope with this natural disaster. Many people are left homeless. The Cyclone made its landfall in West Bengal. Now IPL Kolkata Knight Riders has come forward to lend a helping hand to the state. KKR pledged to donate:
- On West Bengal CM Relief Fund
- Under KKR’s Plant A 6 initiative, the team pledged to with authorities and plant 5000 trees in the city of Kolkata
- Food and rations to be distributed to the needy in the most affected areas- Kolkata, North and South 24 Parganas, East Medinipur
