Kerala’s Opener Md Azharuddeen, who came into the headlines of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021 league match after scoring a blistering century got out in a golden duck against Delhi on Friday.
Md Azharuddeen smashed a 37-ball ton during a 54-ball 137 against Mumbai, hitting nine fours and 11 sixes which Kerala go on to chase down Mumbai’s mammoth 201. According to stats, it was the third-fastest T20 century by an Indian after Rishabh Pant (32 balls) and Rohit Sharma (35 balls).
The 26-year old became the talking point after his carnage at the Wankhede Stadium. Keeping in mind the IPL Auctions which is due to take place in early February, all eyes were set in this domestic league and after Punit Bisht, Azharuddin was quick to hit the limelight.
However, in the game against Delhi on Friday, the opener failed to repeat the heroics as he was caught behind the very first ball off Indian speedster Ishant Sharma. Earlier, Delhi scored 212/4 in 20 overs on the back of 77 runs knock by Shikhar Dhawan. Lalit Yadav also played a crucial hand of 52* off 25 balls.
