Jeff Bezos named ‘Richest American’ for the third year in a row by Forbes

Jeff BezosJeff Bezos, Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the E-commerce giant Amazon has been named the Richest American by Forbes recently. Mr. Bezos topped the Forbes’ list of Richest Americans for the third year in a row. His net worth stands at $179 Billion.


Bill Gates(co-founder of Microsoft) holds the second position on the list with a net worth of $111 Billion. Jeff and Bill, are the only two individuals on the list to have over hundred billion dollars of annual earning. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook is at No. 3 with a net worth of $85 Billion.

Alice Walton, the only daughter of Sam Walton(founder of Walmart) is the only Female in the list of Top 10 Richest Americans. She has a net worth of $62.3 Billion, which is up by 10.9% from last year calculations.

According to Forbes, U.S. President Donald Trump‘s ranking on the list has been dropped from No. 275 to No. 352 as the pandemic has hugely impacted his office buildings, hotels and resorts. His current net worth is $2.5 Billion, which is around $600 Million less from last year($3.1B).

Reuters in a report said Trump has long refused to release his tax records, and has been locked in a battle with Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, who subpoenaed Trump for eight years of personal and corporate returns.

Eric Yuan, Chief Executive Officer of Zoom, is one of the 18 newcomers to enter this year’s list of Richest Americans. Zoom Video Communications has emerged a winner during the Coronavirus pandemic. Eric stands at No. 43 on the list with a net worth of $11 Billion.

Kerry Dolan, assistant managing editor of wealth at Forbes, in an interview with Reuters TV said “The annual list can serve as a way to track the wealthiest people in the country who hold the most power.” She added “As a society, we all should know who is behind the biggest companies and what they’re doing with their money.”
