Malayalam film Jallikattu will be India’s official entry to the 93rd Academy Awards (2021) in the International Feature Film category. The film was released in 2019, it is based on short story Maoist by Hareesh. Lijo Jose Pellissery has directed this film and it starred Anthony Varghese, Chemban Vinod Jose, Sabumon Abdusamad and Santhy Balachandran.
Wishes and congratulatory notes are pouring in for the makers. People have high hopes from Jallikattu and the prayers have started that, this time the movie brings pride to the country. The film depicts the chase of a bull who escapes from a slaughterhouse and how the entire village men gather together in order to hunt the bull. The film is titled after a controversial bull taming event that held in southern part of India.
Jallikattu got acclaimed by the audience as well as by the critics. The movie shared light on the harsh reality of the society, how a animal is slaughtered for a ritual! The movie had exceptional background score and was visually enticing.
