Jaipur is all set to get World’s third largest cricket with a seating capacity of more than 75000 people.
After Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad and Melbourne in Australia, Jaipur will get the world’s third largest cricket stadium with a seating capacity of more than 75,000 people. The stadium is situated in outskirts of Jaipur in a village named Chonp, 25 Km from Jaipur near Jaipur- Delhi Highway. For establishment the stadium will cost a whopping amount of 350 Cr.
Motera Stadium, the world’s largest cricket stadium which was inaugurated during Trump’s visit to India, ‘Namaste Trump’ has a seating capacity of more than 1 lakh people. The construction cost of the Motera Stadium stands nearly to 800 Crore or $110 Million.
The Secretary of Rajasthan Cricket Association Mahendra Sharma said, “The stadium will be spread over 100 acres of land and the constructional work will begin in next 4 months. This will the third largest stadium after Motera in Ahmedabad and Melbourne Cricket Stadium in Australia”.
The stadium will be accompanied with many facilities like indoors games, sports training and session, restaurants, media briefing room, club and many more things. Domestic Cricket, the backbone of Indian Cricket has also been kept in mind. Two practice wickets which will be used for Domestic matches or Ranji Matches.
Mahendra Sharma said to Hindustan Times, “BCCI owes Rs90 crore to RCA while the association will seek a grant of Rs100 crore from BCCI. Rs 100 crore will be taken as loan and Rs60 crore will be amassed by selling corporate boxes in the stadium.”
The stadium will promote the sporting culture in Rajasthan. With presence of an IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals, the team will get a new venue for Home games. The stadium is being constructed keeping in the mind all the necessary guidelines issued by ICC for organising world tournaments. The stadium will be construed by Delhi Based Sports Design Consultancy GRAS & Mehta and Associates LLP.
