Ishaan Khatter’s next film is titled ‘Pippa’. The movie will be directed by Raja Krishna Menon who had earlier directed Airlift and will be produced by Siddharth Roy Kapoor and Ronnie Screwvala.
The movie is based on 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War and is an adaptation from the book ‘The Burning Chaffees’ by Balram Singh Mehta. In the movie, Ishaan will play the role of Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta.
The movie will depict the story of how Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta and his siblings (45th Cavalry Tank Squadron) fought the battle against Pakistan and made 93,000 Pakistan Army Personnel surrendered. In the movie you will witness battle of tanks between India (PT-76 Tanks) and Pakistan (American M-24) tanks.
The lead actor Ishaan Khatter said, “I’m exhilarated to be a part of a film of such magnitude and importance. Getting to play the suave and spirited tank commander Captain Balram Mehta is a true privilege. I’m looking forward to the exciting experience of ‘Pippa'”.
The clash at Garibpur resulted to destruction of fourteen American M-24 tanks and shooting down of Sabre F-86 jets however India lost two PT-76 tanks. The title of the film is derived from ‘PT-76’ (Russian War Tank) also known as Pippa.
The movie is set to hit the theatres at the end of next year. Ishaan Khatter is gaining praises and appreciation for his BBC TV Series ‘A Suitable Boy’. The TV series also features Tabu, Rasika Dugal and Ram Kapoor.
