IPL 2020, SRH VS KXIP
Nicholas Pooran hit the fastest fifty of the tournament but it didn’t help the cause of Kings XI as they faced a 69-run defeat from Sunrisers Hyderabad in Dubai on Thursday.
Sunrisers Hyderabad comfortably registered their 3rd win of the season in Match 22 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab in Dream11 IPL 2020.
Rashid Khan made things worse for KXIP who picked 3 important wickets including that of dangerous Pooran and help SRH restrict KXIP for 132 runs.
Earlier, David Warner won the toss and elected to bat first. SRH openers Warner and Jonny Bairstow made a flying start and made the mockery of KXIP bowlers. They stitched together a 160-run partnership for SRH. Bairstow top-scored for SRH and made 97 runs in 55 balls hitting 6 sixes and 7 fours while Warner scored 52 off 40 balls before the duo were dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi in a single over.
Kane Williamson provided the finisher’s role for SRH this time and scored 20 runs in 10 balls to take SRH to 201/6 in 20 overs. Ravi Bishnoi bowled his best spell in IPL with 3/29 in four overs. Arshdeep Singh also picked two wickets for 33 runs.
SRH has now won 3 and lost 3 in the tournament while KXIP unfortunately has lost 5 games and one victory in 6 matches played in IPL 2020.
Chasing 202 runs, KXIP had a worse start to their innings as the team lost Mayank Agarwal in the second over due to a horrible mix up between him and Rahul that resulted in Mayank in a run-out. Skipper KL Rahul got out in the 7th over and KXIP were reduced to 58/3.
However, Nicholas Pooran stepped up and raced towards his maiden IPL fifty in his career. Pooran smashed the half-century in just 17 balls which is the fastest half-century in IPL 2020. Rashid Khan dismissed Pooran in the 15th over which closed Kings XI hopes.
Khaleel Ahmed and T Natrajan picked two wickets for 24 runs each while Rashid Khan was the best bowler in the game picking up three wickets for 12 runs. Johnny Bairstow was adjudged the man of the match award for his scintillating knock of 97 runs.
With this victory, SRH are now at the third spot in the points table.
