IPL 13 is set to take place in UAE from September 19 with final being played on 10th November. However the timings of the matches have been preponed from 8 PM to 7:30 PM IST.
The much awaited IPL Governing Council meeting is over. Looking at the extraordinary circumstances and situations, the IPL Governing Council and BCCI has decided to take the IPL into another week. Earlier, the final was to be played on 8th November but now according to latest reports the final is shifted to 10th November.
The 13th edition of IPL will be witnessing 10 double headers, this decision was taken to keep an extra spacing between the matches and the seeing the strict protocols that will be followed during the matches.
“We have decided to go up till November 10 and so the final will be held on a weekday for the first time. Also, to ensure that there are enough gaps between games considering the travelling and the bio secure environment and keeping all these things in mind, we will have 10 double headers this season,” a BCCI official said to IANS.
According to reports, spectators will be able to visit the stadium in the later half of the tournament. While there are news about BCCI setting up a training camp for all its Centrally contracted players in the newly built Motera Stadium.
The franchises will be leaving their base by 26th August so that the teams receive minimal time for practicing. While charter flights will be booked for both Indian as well as overseas players.
The Governing Council and the stakeholders are optimistic in getting a positive response from the government regarding the tournament. An official said to IANS, “The BCCI has received clearance from the Sports Ministry and we are hopeful of a positive response from the other departments quite soon as well.”
Another meeting will be organised on August 3 by IPL Governing Council with the franchises and the Broadcaster.
