Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Saturday successfully test fired a new variant of Nuclear capable Shaurya ballistic missile.
The missile was tested from the coast of Odhisa and it has capability to neutralise target at the range of 700-1900 KM.
The new version of the missile was test fired successfully and would be inducted in the strategic forces to complement one of the existing missiles in the same class, top government sources told ANI.
This variant of Shaurya missile is lighter and easier to operate in comparison with the existing missile, In last phase while moving close to its target, the missile moves at hypersonic speed.
From last few weeks, India is continuously testing missile or launch vehicles. First, HSTDV launch then the testing of Brahmos ER and now the Shaurya.
In coming days India might also test its Nirbhay Subsonic cruise missile as area warning has been released by government for Launch of Experiment Flight Vehicle.
