The twitter has turned out to be a Battle place, where there is clash of opanions and views between two legends Michael Vaughan and Shane Warne. The England tour of India has turned interesting. After defeating India in the first test in Chennai Joe Root and his men were quite confident but the way Virat Kohli and Team India came back, it’s really been a shocker.
With the help of Rohit Sharma’s 150 runs knock, Ajinkya’s dependable 67 runs and Rishabh Pant’s fiery knock of 58 runs helped India to reach a massive score of 329 runs. But when the English batsmen came to bat in the middle, they seemed completely lost. The confident English batsman couldn’t stand in the spinning track of Chennai.
India’s front line off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin picked 5 wickets, while Axar Patel doing his debut picked 2 wickets including an important breakthrough of England captain Joe Root. The Indian bowlers exploited the condition, the rough patches and the cracks helped Indian bowlers to restrict Team England to just 134 runs thereby taking a lead of 195 runs.
However England’s former captain Michael Vaughan has raised questions on the pitch at the Chepauk. Vaughan tweeted, “It’s entertaining cricket as things are happening all the time but let’s be honest this Pitch is a shocker .. Not making any excuses as India have been better but this isn’t a Test Match 5 day prepared Pitch …”
Reacting to Vaughan’s statement, Former Australian legendary leg spinner Shane Warne tweeted, “The toss was more important to win in the 1st test than this one, as it did nothing the 1st 2 days. Then exploded. This one has been a turner from ball one. Eng should’ve bowled India out for 220. No different between spinning or seaming & Rohit showed how to play on this surface”
Vaughan later claimed that the pitch helped India and this is not a good test match pitch. He tweeted, “It didn’t do anywhere near as much for 2 sessions … Spun but not like what it’s doing now … India would have drawn the first Test if they had batted anything like in the 1st innings … This isn’t a good Test match pitch …”
To which Shane Warne replied, “There’s no diff between the ball seaming/spinning to much. We always want a fair contest between bat/ball. India have batted & bowled better than Eng in this match – simple. Conditions have been the same for both sides from ball one. But this is excessive & in favour of the ball”.
Now many Indian supports have came out in support of Warne and have claimed that England should also keep in mind. Now whom do you support ?
