Ind vs Aus 3rd Test

With the series level 1-1, India and Australia are ready to clash in the new year test which is also the pink test organized by Glenn McGrath foundation.

While India has already announced their playing XI on social media, Australia is yet to announce. Rohit Sharma makes into the side which was already expected.

Other than him Navdeep Saini will make his debut ahead of Shardul Thakur who was the front runner to be India’s third seamer due to his ability to swing the ball. But the team management have placed their bet on Saini. His extra pace might have given him an edge over Thakur and T Natarajan.

While Mayank Agarwal who couldn’t do much in the 4 innings that he got will warm the bench now. Umesh Yadav is already out of the series due to a calf injury.

Let’s look at India’s chance to win the Sydney test based on their playing XI:-

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill will open the batting for India. This is the third new opening pair for India in the test series. Also, it will be the first time Sharma and Gill will open the batting together. While Sharma is returning from an injury, Gill had a very good debut test match at the MCG that draw him some praises.

Middle Order:- No.3, 4 and 5

Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Hanuma Vihari will form India’s middle order. Pujara who had a dream run in the 2018-19 tour didn’t perform as per everyone’s expectation in this series but can return to form in the Sydney test as this is the same venue where he made 192 runs in 2018-19.

Captain Rahane played a Captain’s knock in the previous match. He scored a ton and lifted India’s morale to register an 8-wicket victory. Hanuma Vihari has retained his position in the side despite having scored 44 runs in 3 innings but he has remained solid in each innings. He can come in handy in this match.

Lower Middle Order:- No.6 and 7

Wicket-Keeper batsmen Rishabh Pant and bowling all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will strengthen the batting line up in the lower middle order. While Jadeja has a good show with the bat in the previous match, Pant has shown some promise but threw his Wicket away after getting a good start. It will be important for the 22-year-old to play long innings like he played the 2018 the-19 tour.

Bowling department:-

Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Navdeep Saini and Mohammad Siraj will form India’s bowling line. With premier fast bowler Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav injured during this series. The onus will be on Jasprit Bumrah along with the debutant Navdeep Saini and playing only his second test match Mohammad Siraj.

While Bumrah is in hot form, Siraj was also very impressive in his debut match picking 5 wickets which also includes the wicket of Marnus Labuschagne. Ashwin has scalped 10 Wickets in 2 test matches so far which includes 2 wickets of Steve Smith and 1 off Labuschagne.

Altogether it is a good bowling line-up of India and they will not let the absence of Ishant, Shami and Umesh felt. The batting line-up also looks promising especially after the return of the hitman. Pujara and Vihari need to come to the party which will increase India’s chances even more to lead the series.

With the Test series level at 1-1, Team India will be hoping that whatever changes they have made end up being successful. The onus is now on Rohit Sharma to prove himself in foreign conditions, and also on Saini to justify his place in Team India’s playing XI.

India’s Playing XI for 3rd Test match:

Rohit Sharma(VC), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane(C), Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Navdeep Saini(Debut), Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammad Siraj.
