IAF deployed Jaguar-IM aircrafts in Car Nicobar island to counter PLA Navy warships: Reports

Unconfirmed reports coming that Indian Airforce has deployed half a squadron of Jaguar-IM maritime strike aircrafts in Car Nicobar island.

It is not authenticated by any Government source as of now.

These Jaguar-IM are armed with AGM-84L Harpoon Block 2 AShM. Harpoon missile is immensely effective in destroying ships in the ocean.

The deployment Jaguar-IM in Car Nicobar island came after the report which shows that 2-3 PLA Navy warships have taken to safe waters near the Djibouti coast and three other PLAN warships have exited through Malacca Strait to their Hainan base. One of the ship was a Type 052D destroyer of PLAN South Sea Fleet.

Malacca Strait is the only way through which People’s Liberation Army Navy, warships and Submarine can enter Indian ocean region. Jaguar equipped with Harpoon missile is capable in neutralising PLA Navy attempts to send reinforcements through Malacca.

The Strait of Malacca is a narrow, 890 km stretch of water between the Malay Peninsula and the Indonesian island of Sumatra. As the main shipping channel between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.

Deploying new Rafales in the Ladakh region and Jaguar in Car Nicobar island despite disengagement seen at LAC between both the forces, proves that there is severe trust issues between Indian and Chinese army.

While US aircraft carrier USS Nimitz reached Andaman & Nicobar island with 90 fighter jets & 3000 marines.
