Happy Birthday SRK: Shah Rukh Khan’s journey from Delhi to conquering Bollywood

The King Of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan today turned 55. Born in 2nd November 1965, Shah Rukh Khan became one of the most known celebrity in the world.

Shah Rukh Khan, is not just a name but heartbeat for millions of people across the globe. In every century an entertainer arrives who takes the world by storm through their mass appeal, global fan following and connect with the audience. And without any doubt Shah Rukh Khan is one of them.

Today Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan turned 55 and the world is celebrating the contribution of this legend towards the field of entertainment. Social media is flooded with tweets, messages, blessings and trends for their favourite superstar. The success of Shah Rukh Khan can be defined by the words of ‘James Cameron’ who once said, “Shah Rukh Khan is a giant movie star, I’m more than happy to sign a poster for him, if he signs a poster of ‘My Name Is Khan’ for me”.

This  clearly indicates the impact SRK created globally. According to reports, ‘More than half of the World Population know the name Shah Rukh Khan’.

Shah Rukh Khan’s fan following is not only limited to the country but also expands internationally. International stars like Leonardo Di Caprio, Daniel Radcliffe, Robert Pattinson, Penelope Cruz, Hugh Jackman, Brad Pitt, Kristin Stewart, Janet Jackson have often praised SRK, his movies and Persona. In countries like Germany, Poland, Russia, UK, US, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Japan SRK enjoys a huge stardom. There is something more to Shah Rukh Khan other than his set of skills that makes him connect and people see a part of themselves on Shah Rukh Khan.

A middle class boy from Delhi with no parents and film background came into Bollywood and within a  next few decades conquered the World. He once said, “I want to be a bigger star than Michael Jackson” and this came true when Wikipedia, Google, Forbes, CNN, Newsweek labelled him as the ‘World’s Biggest Movie Star’. This seems a fairy tale story, but behind this lies the fact of years of dedication, passion and hard work.

Starting his Bollywood Career in 1992 with the movie Deewana, Shah Rukh Khan soon became audiences favourite. A skinny boy with unmanaged hair connected with the changing India. After movies like Darr, Baazigar, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, SRK soon became the new age superstar. But the movie which gave him mega stardom and made him popular among the NRI’s was ‘DDLJ’.

After DDLJ, with series of blockbusters like K3G, Veer Zara, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Pardes, Kal Ho Na Ho, Devdas, Main Hoon Na and many more Shah Rukh Khan attained the mega stardom that was witnessed after years. He completely ruled over Bollywood for entirely two decades. Many countries and international institutions bestowed the actor with laurels like:

  • The French Government awarded him with Knight Of the Legion of France and a special gold coin was named after SRK and was put on the museum of Paris.
  • Shah Rukh Khan was named in a book ‘365 people who changed the world’ and became the only Indian after Mahatma Gandhi to join the list. The Government Of Morocco honoured Khan with L’Etoile d’OR while the British House Of Commons awarded SRK with Global Diversity Award.
  • Shah Rukh Khan also received Doctorate degrees from University of Bedfordshire, University Of Edinburgh, University Of Law United Kingdom and La Trobe University.

Not only as an actor but also as an human being Shah Rukh Khan has inspired a complete generation. He has been part of many charitable organizations but always stood by his words of not making it public. His charitable work towards children and women helped him attain the UNESCO award. Shah Rukh has been a part of MEER Foundation which takes care of acid survivors and Make A Wish Foundation for children. In 2012, the Baadshah of Bollywood adopted 12 villages in Odisha.

Keeping aside all the rewards, awards, love and money what truly Shah Rukh Khan stands for is self- belief. The journey from earning 1500 Rs to becoming the second richest actor in the world, Shah Rukh Khan has accomplished everything that one could ever imagine. But till now the actor didn’t forget his roots, SRK never fails to reciprocate the love he is showered with. The actor has no problem in sharing his life or his time with millions of people who keep waiting all their life to see a glimpse of their favourite  superstar.

However the last few years didn’t go too well for the superstar. After his last release ‘Zero‘ which doomed at the Box Office, Shah Rukh Khan has taken a sabbatical. But now it seems the time has come for SRK fans to rejoice and enjoy. Reports suggest SRK will be back on the 75mm screen with Pathan. Fans are hoping that the king will regain his lost throne.
