England’s tour of India has been officially postponed until 2021. England were to tour India in September and play limited over series. England were scheduled to play 3 ODI and 3 T20I but due to COVID-19, now the World Cup-winning team will not be travelling to India confirmed BCCI.

There were reports doing round earlier according to Daily Mail that the postponement of England tour will give room for the cash-rich IPL 13 to take place at the end of September, and now the same has been confirmed by ECB as it has officially decided to postpone the series until 2021.

There are also talks going on between BCCI and ECB that the January series be made an all format tour with the ODIs and T20I be played alongside when England will tour India for a 5 match test series early next year. The tour is likely to run from late January to late March and for India’s Test tour to England due in the summer of 2021. However, the official dates have not been decided yet.

Now that we have clarity regarding the postponement of ICC Men’s T20 WC, it enables us to work with other Boards to progress the vital task of optimising the international schedules in the challenging circumstances that we have all been having to address with the COVID-19 pandemic,” ECB’s Chief Executive Officer, Tom Harrison, said.

“International cricket between India and England is a highlight of the cricketing calendar and we look forward to working with the BCCI to firm-up the schedules for these eagerly anticipated tours as soon as possible.”

The BCCI and ECB are working closely to finalize the schedule as we move towards the resumption of cricket,” Jay Shah, BCCI Secretary, said. “The India-England series is one of the most anticipated contests in world cricket. The two teams compete hard on the field and provide some riveting moments. I am pleased with the way BCCI and ECB have managed the situation. The rescheduled tour is also being redesigned in a way to accommodate both red and white-ball format and will now be a comprehensive one.”
