Eng vs Pak 3rd Test Day 3

An eventful day for England as they are on the verge of winning the series and the trophy. Although Day 3 turned out to be balanced but it’s England who are way ahead of Pakistan and firm favorites to win the third test match at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton on Sunday.

While Azhar Ali was the star of the day for his brilliant innings of 141 not out, England managed to enforce the follow-on on Pakistan after bundling them out at 273 in 93 overs thanks to England’s star bowler James Anderson who took his 29th five-for. He is now 2 Wickets away from achieving 600 Wickets milestones. A feat that no fast bowler has ever achieved in the history of International Cricket in a single format.

Pakistan resumed their innings on 24/3 and lost Asad Shafiq (5) by James Anderson and were immediately reduced to 30/4. They were stuttering early but Fawad Alam ably supported his skipper who was on a mission and showed some resilience with his stay of 74 balls before he fell on the score of 21 to Dom Bess.

In come the Man of the Match of the last test Mohammad Rizwan and he continued his good run with his knock of 53 and formed a partnership with skipper Azhar Ali who had already determined to go big after his consistent failures in this series. Pakistan rode on the back of their skipper tough innings as Ali eventually managed to make 141 in front of the spirited England bowlers.

Ali and Rizwan ensured Pakistan batting get some respect but couldn’t manage to save the follow-on. Rizwan fell on a score of 53. Post his Wicket, Pakistan crumbled & it was just a matter of time for England to wrap up Pakistan innings as they managed to post 273 with Azhar Ali being unbeaten on 141.

England captain Joe Root enforced the follow-on the dying moments of the day sensing they can take few Wickets as the weather is not ideal for the remaining days of the test match.

Captain Ali decided to open the innings given he was unbeaten and also he was in the zone to carry on but the umpires felt the lights were not appropriate to continue the Play and called it Stumps.

England are way ahead and top of Pakistan with the lead of 310 but the weather conditions are not and Pakistan can sneak a chance of a draw, thanks to the grit shown by Azhar Ali. Well if the weather remains good, tomorrow can be the last day of the test match.
