England thump Australia in the 2nd T20 International by 6 wickets at Southampton to win the series with still 1 T20 to go. Australia scored 157-7 in their 20 overs which Buttler and company hunt down in 18.5 overs with Buttler knocking 77 runs in 54 balls.

Jos Buttler (77) helped England chase down Australia 157-7 to lead the series 2-0 to become no 1 T20 side now.

Earlier, Australian captain Aaron Finch won the toss and elected to bat first this time after Australia lost the last one fielding first. David Warner departed in the innings third ball by Jofra Archer.

Alex Carey came at no.3 and be also was sent packing by Mark Wood on 2 runs. Steven Smith was run on 7. Finch and Stoinis stitched a partnership by 49 runs before Jordon bowled Finch on 40. Maxwell (26) and Ashton Agar (23) cameo helped Australia post a healthy total of 157-4.

England started their innings on a good note but Jonny Bairstow was unfortunate got out hit wicket. Dawid Malan carried his good form with his 42 run knock stitching a 87 run partnership with Buttler. After that it was easy task for England to bring down Australia hopes of an equaliser.

Buttler was adjudged the man of the match for his match winning 77 that included 8 fours and 2 sixes at the strike rate of 142.59.

“We felt we needed early wickets because these guys are too good and too skillful. As long as Buttler is hitting good balls and taking them on you can’t do much,” said Finch in post-match presentation.

England have managed to win in the absence of their star all-rounder Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes and Jason Roy. That’s what makes them a champion side. The 3rd T20 is on September 8 at the same venue Southampton and England would be eyeing for a whitewash.
