Finally it’s the end of road for MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings. It would be first time in 10 years that CSK will not be qualifying for IPL playoffs. The team seems completely out of place and is lacking in every department. After today’s defeat against Mumbai Indians, now Chennai Super Kings are at the bottom of the table with just 3 wins in 11 matches.
Rather than anger it’s a saddening moment for all the CSK fans. The way Chennai played IPL 2020 was very frustrating and disturbing. In all the matches it seemed the players have already given up, their is no temperament, no fight back attitude and no intent to win. After today’s game it is prevalent that in next year’s IPL they need to change the set template that made them successful in all these years.
Mumbai Indians captain Keiron Pollard will be a happy guy today. The way Mumbai Indians dominated today’s match proved why they are one of the top contenders to lift up the trophy this time. Trend Bolt and Jasprit Bumrah’s opening spell completely destroyed CSK’s batting line up.
In the first 3 overs itself CSK lost 4 wickets. The Bolt- Bumrah’s destructive duo completely outclassed CSK’s batsmen. The pressure on youngsters Rituraj and Jagdishan was clearly visible. Ambati Rayudu has been a big disappointment this season, playing at number 4 he failed to give the team a solid foundation. Except his first game against MI, Rayudu has been failing continuously which is causing pressure on lower middle order.
But young Rahul Chahar picked up MS Dhoni’s wicket and put MI on top. People had high hope from MS Dhoni, but this season the fans were refrained from watching the genius of MS Dhoni. Thanks to young Sam Curran whose fightable 52 runs knock helped CSK to attain a respectable total of 114 runs.
Sam Curran was one man army for CSK. In every game, Sam gave his all for the team either through his bowling, batting or fielding. The biggest positive for CSK this season is Sam Curran. Till the the England’s all rounder kept fighting and kept the hopes of the fans alive.
Seeing Sharjah and an opponent like Mumbai Indians, 115 runs was easily chasable. Young Ishan Kishan and Quinton De Kock single handedly took the team across the finishing line. The CSK bowlers couldn’t defend this low total. The key was to take early wickets in the first powerplay but Chennai Super Kings failed to do the magic with the bowl and with the help of Quinton De Kock’s and Ishan Kishan easily chased down this total without loosing a wicket.
