Australian Olympic Skater Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya dies at the age of 20 in Moscow. Ektaterina represented Australia in figure skating at Olympics.
The Russian born skater was granted Australian citizenship to represent the country in 2018 Winter Olympics with indigenous Australian Partner Harley Windsor.
Her partner Windsor took to his Instagram to share how he felt. He wrote, “The amount we had achieved during our partnership is something I can never forget and will always hold close to my heart,” Windsor wrote on Instagram.” He further added, “The amount we had achieved during our partnership is something I can never forget and will always hold close to my heart”.
Windsor and Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya was crowned World Junior Champions in 2017, claiming Australia’s first global figure skating title and getting a nod for the 2018 Winter Olympics.
Her coach said, Alexandrovskaya died after falling out of window in Moscow. However till now no comment has been made from Russian Law Enforcement agencies. According to Russian media the 20 year old left a note, “Lyublyu ( ILove ) suggesting it can be a case of suicide.
Ekaterina missed the training session in January and was diagnosed with Epilepsy. The 20 year retired from the sport in February.
Peter Lynch, president at Ice Skating Australia, called Alexandrovskaya “a brilliant athlete with incredible drive and determination”.
