US President Donald Trump on Monday said to reporters that he is consuming Zinc and Hydroxychloroquine on daily basis, despite repetitive warnings from his own government.
The anti malarial drug is being used to treat Coronavirus infected and if used without doctor’s advice can cause a serious damage on one’s body. Donald Trump has been constantly warned by his own government, to not consume the drug.
Donald Trump told reporters on Monday that he has been consuming the zinc and Hydroxychloroquine drug “for a week and a half”. Trump said the doctor did not prescribed the drug to him but he requested the White House physician.
He said, ““I started taking it, because I think it’s good,I’ve heard a lot of good stories.”
There is no reports of Trump being Coronavirus infected. 2 staffers were tested positive for Coronavirus earlier this month and since then the administration is taking all the precautionary measures to keep the President and the Vice President safe.
The White House has mandated that those in the West Wing wear face coverings and has introduced daily testing for the virus for the President, Vice President and those they come in close contact with.
Trump statement has caused a concern among medical professionals that, many people will start taking the drug “Hydroxychloroquine” as a precautionary measure which is bad for their health.
People should not infer from Trump’s example “that it’s an approved approach or proven,” because it’s not, said Dr. David Aronoff, infectious diseases chief at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
Many studies have shown, consuming hydroxychloroquine drug without doctor’s advice, can damage your kidney, cause infections and may even result to heart attack. Two large on studies among 1400 Coronavirus patients in New York have shown the drug does no good.
The number of Coronavirus cases in America have surpassed 15,00,000 with 91,981 deaths. America has been one of the worst hit country’s by Coronavirus and it has caused a lot of damage to the Economy of the country. In April, the unemployment rate touched 14.7 % with some 20.5 million people loosing job.
