Mawlynnong Village located in East Khasi hills of Meghalaya has been recognised as the cleanest village in Asia in 2003 and cleanest village of India in 2005. The village is located nearly 90 Km from Shillong and is known for its beauty, environment and cleanliness.

Each person living in the village is responsible for cleanliness in the village. The village is completely pollution free and use of plastic is completely prohibited. The literacy rate of the village is 100% and each and every person living in the village can  speak English. Mawlynnong village is one of the top tourist destination site. The bamboo made bridges will surely catch the attention of the eyes. The highlight of this village is that, it is located in Indo-Bangla border. The villagers have constructed 85 feet sky view tower, made of bamboo from where people can see the plain land of Bangladesh. Mawlynnong has a population of nearly 500 people, as reported in 2015 and Agriculture is the main occupation of the villagers.

This place offers immense peace, as it is completely pollution free and offers you a fresh air to breathe. In the times, when people have got so busy that they can’t spend a moment with the family, Mawlynnong Village can be the best for finding your inner self and also spend a quality time with the family.
