The biggest name of World cricket MS Dhoni ended all the speculations that were making rounds about his retirement as he announced the same on the occasion of 74th Independence Day of India.
He announced his retirement by posting a video in Instagram depicting his journey from debut till the last ODI he played, his highs and lows. He wrote ” Thanks for all the love and support throughout. From 1929 hrs, consider me as retired “
In his 16 year long career, he played 350 ODIs, 90 tests and 98 T20Is. In 350 ODIs, Dhoni had scored 10773 runs at an average of 50.57. He has 10 centuries and 73 fifties to his name.
Dhoni amassed 1617 runs in 98 T20Is at an average of 37.60, including two half-centuries.
Minutes after his retirement, his best buddy who has been with him all through Suresh Raina also joined him and announced his retirement. He wrote “It was nothing but lovely playing with you, @mahi7781 . With my heart full of pride, I choose to join you in this journey. Thank you India. Jai Hind! (sic)”,
Raina revealed the reason behind their retirement on same date
Famously called as Chinna Thala(Younger brother),Suresh Raina disclosed that he came to know about Dhoni’s retirement after reaching Chennai.
Speaking about the retirement on the same date, Raina told that they made up their minds to retire on August 15th as their jersey numbers put together make 73 (Dhoni’s jersey number is 7 and Raina’s jersey number is 3). India completed 73 years of Independence on the same day as well.
“We had already made up our minds to retire on Saturday (August 15). Dhoni’s jersey number is 7 and mine is 3 – put it together and it makes 73. And on August 15, India completed 73 years of independence, so there couldn’t have been a better day,” Raina told Dainik Jagran.
“I knew Dhoni would announce his retirement upon reaching Chennai, so I was ready. I, Piyush Chawla, Deepak Chahar and Karn Sharma reached Ranchi on 14th with the chartered plane, and picked up Mahi bhai and Monu Singh.”

He also revealed that they hugged and cried a lot after announcing their respective retirements and also partied with fellow CSK mates for the night and talked about their careers and relationship.
