Star Javelin thrower Davinder Singh Kang found guilty of doping, faces lifetime ban

The star Javelin thrower Davinder Singh Kang has been banned for life for injecting “specified substance” dexamethasone- glucocorticoids in his body. Davinder Singh Kang made it to the finals of World Championship in 2017.

According to recent Times Of India report, NADA National Anti Doping Agency has charged the athlete after his urine sample showed positive result. This is not the first time Davinder Singh Kang has been found guilty of Doping, earlier in 2018 NADA disciplinary committee let off the athlete with a warning when found guilty. Now it’s the second time and disciplinary committee will decide whether to ban him for life or eight years.

Kang’s sample was collected back in 2019 during Indian Grand Prix 5 held in Patiala on August 16,2019 but the result came after an year. Davinder Singh Kang was ordered to leave the NIS Patiala Camp when found guilty of not obtaining TUE (Therapeutic Use Exemption) which gives clarity of presence of dexamethasone in his body.

In past few weeks many Indian athletes were found guilty of Doping. On Friday, Asian Champion runner Gomathi Marimuthu faced a ban of 4 years after it was found anabolic steroid nandrolone was injected in her system at the 2019 Asian Track Championship in Qatar. The athlete has been suspended till 2023, and during this time she will pass her prime. The International Disciplinary Tribunal will also take away her hard earned Asian Gold Medal.
